Young people have many needs, and face many challenges in contemporary Australian society. Many of their heart questions and issues have a spiritual dimension. The Bunbury Diocese Youth team assists deaneries and parishes to nurture the spirituality of young people from their early teens to early twenties. The Youth team provides support, resources and training to assist deaneries and parishes to:
- Promote values that can guide young people about how to live in today’s world;
- Provide spiritual development opportunities for children and young people in family, parish and deanery settings;
- Train and support those who minister to children and young people in family, parish, state school and deanery contexts;
- Develop and sustain effective coordination of ministry with children and young people;
- Connect young people with broader church experiences across the deanery and diocese, such as World Youth Day;
- Prepare and catechise children and young people for sacraments; and
- Ensure young people are helped by a set of spiritual development opportunities to integrate their spiritual experiences with everyday life.
