With 26 parishes in the diocese and over 8000 students attending our 27
schools, the financial demands on our resources continue to grow. Our
aim is to expand the fund to meet these needs.
An
investment is a vehicle designed to put your money to work for you. But what if
that money could be doing a bit of God’s work at the same time?
With the Catholic Development
Fund that’s just what happens. While your money is earning interest very close
to the market rate, a small fraction of your return helps the Bishop to run
programmes in your parish and throughout the Bunbury Diocese.

The
CDF provides funding for our Diocese from a few of the percentage points of
interest earned by each investment.
The
resulting funds are the major source of income for the ongoing work of the
Church in the Bunbury Diocese, both in social services and liturgical
activities.
For example, programmes for Catholic Education
and youth development, Adult Faith Education and catechist training, programmes
that offer Spiritual direction and healing, as well as those that support
pregnant women, are all funded by investors in the CDF.
The money you have in the CDF
makes a real difference to people in the local community and to the work of the
Church in our Diocese.
AN ETHICAL INVESTMENT SHOULD BE A SENSIBLE INVESTMENT
In uncertain times, savers
look to investments that offer a greater level of security.
The CDF pursues a productive
but conservative policy built around stable products issued by the major banks.
This
approach has kept the CDF strong during difficult economic times, with reserve
funds currently at 14%.
At the
same time, the Catholic Diocese of Bunbury gives you peace of mind by providing
an indemnity against loss on all deposits and investments of the CDF including
any interest payable.
**The Diocese of Bunbury - Catholic Development Fund (CDF) is designed
for investors who wish to promote the charitable purposes of the
Catholic Diocese of Bunbury. We welcome your investment with CDF rather
than with a profit oriented commercial organisation as a conscious
commitment by you to support the Charitable, Religious and Educational
works of the Catholic Church. CDF is not subject to the provision of
the Corporation Act 2001 nor has it been examined or approved by the
Australian Securities and Investments Commission. Neither CDF nor the
Roman Catholic Bishop of Bunbury is prudentially supervised by the
Australian Prudential Regulation Authority. Contributions to CDF do not
obtain the benefit of the Depositor Protection Provision of the Banking
Act 1959. The Catholic Diocese of Bunbury has indemnified the CDF
against any liability arising out of a claim by investors in the CDF
through CDPF Limited, which is a company established by the Australian
Catholic Bishops Conference.**
